I took my sprawling thoughts and my notebook for a walk at the river bank and stopped at a cafe to enjoy a cinnamon bun.
#Blaugust2026 starts on Saturday so I came to do some planning for what I'm going to write about in the upcoming week. I want to be ready each morning to focus on writing rather than getting stuck at coming up with an idea.
@paulrickards thanks for documenting everything so well here! I've been shooting on my SX-70 ever since the Impossible Project started making new film. The early experimental film was so fun to shoot with! They had a store in Vienna where they would sell test batches straight from the factory for cheap.
This obviously means that I had to make similar buttons to show that I do NOT use AI for my pictures, graphics and written texts :) This will soon be integrated as overlay for the images on my blog :)
places who have so far failed the "charging extra for potatoes in a roast dinner" check, also known as the "if I want Ryanair I know where to find them" test: 1000 Trades, Isaacs in the Grand Hotel.
[edit: no they haven't, it's just in the fine print that I didn't see. Correction gratefully accepted; I'm sure they're ok! you do in fact get roast potatoes included]
also, pubs and restaurants, if your menu says "sunday roast" and lists a bunch of roast dinners for £25 or £30 or so then that's fine. If roast potatoes are a separate side dish that you have to pay extra for on top of that £30, then you're a bunch of mendacious thieves and I'm not coming to your place. Be told.
@leeg huh, never had a roast in there! It's a decent pub -- always nice to go in a Fuller's pub -- but I don't think I've eaten in there ever. I'll have a look, cheers!
