going solely by Geekbench 6 scores,

i've discovered that the Steam Machine CPU is actually 25-30% faster than my desktop's in single core performance, and very close in multi core despite my desktop having more cores & threads (Ryzen 7 5700X).

this is with the caveat of running my CPU in Eco Mode, so it's limited to, i think, 48W TDP...but then, that's versus the Machine's mere 30W TDP

so Zen 4 is quite a lot more efficient than Zen 3

It seems strange to me that the pie chart is per-package instead of indicating total #Flatpak updates progress however, so I filed a ticket about that a while ago: https://github.com/flatpak/flatpak/issues/6226

TechCrunch reporting about the grid:

"The largest electrical grid in the U.S. has struggled to cope with an onslaught of data centers. Now, after an auction to add more generating capacity fell short, the grid’s operator, PJM Interconnection, has said it will cut off data centers and other large users during power shortages."

Totally reasonable. In fact, the new OpenAI data center in Georgia announced last week has this partially baked in, saying they will “proactively reduce its power consumption before residential customers are impacted during periods of high demand”.

You can hide your Mastodon profile's follows and followers by editing your profile. Full guide here:

They will still be visible to you when you are logged in, but no one else will be able to see them.

The method for doing this changed with Mastodon 4.6.0 so you may want to check out the new location for this setting.

On a post yesterday, I accidentally used the HTML tag <strike> instead of <del>. Just noticed that Mastodon doesn’t display <strike>, so I edited my blog post. Very cool to see Mastodon update as the edit change came through via ActivityPub.
