The Great Mouse Detective was released 40 years ago. Cartoon Brew has a look back at it and many other animated detectives.
Love that movie, will never forget seeing it in the theater as a kid. That and seeing the original Transformers had a big influence on my love for animation.
With all the attention "We write code by hand" has been getting, I'm surprised it took this long before I had to block a troll. Pretty impressive really. Thanks fedi! 😊
Yes, there are lots of news accounts on here. I've done a section about them on my other website fedi.directory:
https://fedi.directory/news-media
To follow an account listed on the site, copy-paste its Fediverse address into the search box in Mastodon, then click "Follow".
Note that some of them post extremely frequently, you might want to use the Mastodon Lists feature to put them in their own news-themed mini-timeline https://fedi.tips/how-to-use-the-lists-feature-on-mastodon
@warmemelk Perhaps the company you work builds software to automate away other people's jobs. That's unfortunate.
That's also not a universal experience. Many software developers have *not* been in that position. I actually examined this in my own career not long ago, and very few projects I ever worked on were about automating away other people's jobs.
As for the "why" of resisting genAI, I do plan to add an Educational Resources section soon. Just haven't gotten to it yet.
@kentpitman @salixsericea Yes I think it's best you don't support this, as you seem to be deliberately not understanding *why* it exists nor my explanations for what its purpose is. I suggest you examine why you are going out of your way to misinterpret our movement.
@juglugs @ganxel AI output is slop. Slop is in the eye of the beholder. Just you saying "this is not slop because I think it's good" doesn't mean it is not slop.
There's also plenty of evidence LLMs do not develop in some linear sense of progression. Some older, smaller, better-scoped models are better at a number of tasks than the biggest frontier models. In general in this space we've also seen an S-curve, *not* an exponential curve, and we've nearly reached the ceiling now.
Our companion app for recording short podcasts Wavelength is getting a full redesign. Thanks to @vincent for the great work on it! Here’s a set of screenshots for a sneak peek. Hope to submit to Apple and Google this week.
