💻 I never do this, but I'm shouting out ESR https://esrtech.com/ for their customer service. I emailed yesterday about a faulty keyboard and I got a brand new replacement in the mail today. Totally unexpected.
@bupd @vivekanandanks @wamserma If I was heavily involved with some distribution, perhaps I would pick that but I'm working mainly with upstream and also I've built images with Buildroot for the past 19 years regularly. Learning some weird distro tools and concepts just plain does not play out for me too well.
@wamserma @bupd @vivekanandanks plus maximum control of everything such as file system layout and all the software included. I can pass the "forum fights" or ignore the community part (however you want to put it :-)).

I think this is quite elegant way to solve application specific problem :-) And it does possess any security issues coming from using paths, given that the coding agent policy can be part of the executable.
I tried both Yocto and NixOS for the project but most of the stuff that they provide is overhead. E.g. in NixOS nix itself is overhead. I feel that using them makes kind of distribution or packaging shenanigans somewhat irrelevant and Buildroot provides flat build environment so...
@marxjohnson might be worth hassling them. I got stuff like this from my accountant, sent them the aggrieved email, and (a while later) the head of the dev team got in touch to apologise personally and say they'd fixed it! https://mastodon.social/@sil/113010708679778723
@justbob heh. yeah AI consistently polls negatively across all sorts of spaces and industries. It may be more 50/50 in very commercial/mainstream arenas, but in no way can it be claimed that pro-AI is a majority position (other than among the suits, lol).
@heiglandreas not having to maintain my own thing, they have glitch-soc mastodon which has more features
Though I have just moved my instance to glitch which was easy thanks to @pieceofthepie's Dokku project using linuxserver.io docker images and they already have a glitch tagged version and moving between them is as simple as changing the Dockerfile
